Isoprostane意思
Isoprostanes are a group of compounds that are formed through a non-enzymatic process involving the oxidation of arachidonic acid, which is a type of omega-6 fatty acid found in cell membranes. They are produced in vivo as a result of oxidative stress and are considered to be markers of oxidative damage in the body.
Isoprostanes are named based on their structure, which includes an isoprostane moiety. They are classified into different series (e.g., F2-isoprostanes, D2-isoprostanes, J2-isoprostanes) based on the position of the cyclopentenone ring and the number of double bonds in the side chain. F2-isoprostanes are the most widely studied and are considered to be the gold standard for assessing oxidative stress in vivo.
The presence of isoprostanes in biological fluids such as plasma, urine, and exhaled breath condensate has been used as a biomarker of oxidative stress in various diseases and conditions, including cardiovascular disease, diabetes, respiratory disorders, and neurodegenerative diseases. They are also used as a marker of lipid peroxidation, which is the oxidative degradation of lipids.
