Hemodialysis意思

"Hemodialysis" is a medical term that refers to a procedure used to clean the blood of individuals who have kidney failure or end-stage renal disease (ESRD). It is a type of dialysis, which is a treatment that mimics the function of the kidneys by removing waste products, excess fluid, and electrolytes from the body.

In hemodialysis, blood is pumped out of the body through an access point, usually a vein in the arm that has been surgically modified to allow for the easy insertion of a dialysis needle. The blood flows through a machine that contains a filter, also known as a dialyzer or artificial kidney, which removes toxins and extra fluid from the blood. The cleaned blood is then returned to the body through the same access point.

Hemodialysis is typically done three times a week, with each session lasting about three to five hours. It can be done in a dialysis center, hospital, or at home with the help of a healthcare professional or trained family member.
