To order of shipper意思
"To order of shipper" is a term commonly used in the shipping and logistics industry. It refers to a shipping arrangement where the bill of lading (a document that serves as a receipt for goods, evidence of the contract of carriage, and a document of title) is made out to the order of the shipper.
In this arrangement, the shipper (the party that is sending the goods) retains the title to the goods until they decide to transfer it to someone else. The bill of lading is typically endorsed (signed over) to the bank or the buyer at the destination, which is when the ownership of the goods is transferred.
This method of shipping is often used in letter of credit (LC) transactions, where the bank requires the bill of lading to be made out to its order or to the order of the shipper. It allows the shipper to maintain control over the goods until the payment is received or the terms of the letter of credit are met.
Using "to order of shipper" on a bill of lading gives the shipper flexibility in terms of when and how they transfer the goods' ownership. It also provides a level of security, as the shipper can ensure that the goods are only released to the intended recipient.
