Dispersed phase的意思
"Dispersed phase" is a term used in the context of colloids, which are heterogeneous systems consisting of a mixture of two phases: a continuous phase (also known as the dispersion medium or the solvent) and a dispersed phase (also known as the solute or the dispersed particles).
The dispersed phase refers to the particles that are dispersed throughout the continuous phase. These particles can be solid, liquid, or gas, depending on the type of colloid. For example, in an emulsion (a type of colloid), the dispersed phase could be droplets of one liquid dispersed in another liquid. In a sol (another type of colloid), the dispersed phase could be solid particles dispersed in a liquid.
The size of the dispersed phase particles is typically between 1 nanometer and 100 nanometers, which is the range that gives colloids their unique properties, such as Tyndall effect, stability against gravitational settling, and the ability to form lyophobic (non-soluble) or lyophilic (soluble) complexes with the continuous phase.
