Coffee lake意思

"Coffee Lake" is a code name for a series of Intel microprocessors based on the 14nm++ manufacturing process. It is the eighth generation of Intel Core processors for desktops and laptops. The Coffee Lake processors were first introduced in 2017 and included models such as the Core i3, Core i5, and Core i7.

The Coffee Lake series is notable for several reasons:

  1. Increased core count: Compared to the previous Kaby Lake generation, Coffee Lake offered higher core counts across all processor tiers, with some models featuring up to 6 cores.

  2. Improved performance: The additional cores and architectural improvements led to better performance, particularly in multi-threaded workloads.

  3. Compatibility: Initially, Coffee Lake processors were not fully compatible with older 200-series chipset motherboards, requiring a new 300-series chipset motherboard. However, later BIOS updates allowed for partial compatibility.

  4. Integrated graphics: Some Coffee Lake processors came with Intel UHD Graphics, offering improved integrated graphics performance compared to previous generations.

The Coffee Lake series was succeeded by the Ice Lake processors, which use the 10nm manufacturing process and were aimed at both desktop and mobile markets.
