Adverb是什麼意思
"Adverb" is a part of speech that describes or modifies a verb, an adjective, another adverb, or even an entire sentence. It answers questions such as "how?", "when?", "where?", or "to what extent?" about the verb or the sentence's meaning.
For example:
- "She sings beautifully." (How does she sing?)
- "The sky is extremely blue today." (To what extent is the sky blue?)
- "The cat quickly ran up the tree." (How did the cat run?)
- "We will definitely go if it doesn't rain." (To what extent will we go?)
Adverbs can be formed by adding suffixes to adjectives, such as -ly (e.g., "quickly" from "quick"), but not all adverbs end in -ly. Common adverbs include "slowly," "clearly," "hard," "often," "really," "suddenly," "well," and "badly."
