Fluoride意思

Fluoride is a chemical element with the symbol F and atomic number 9. It is a highly reactive halogen and is the most electronegative element, meaning it is the best at attracting electrons towards itself. Fluorine, the element from which fluoride ions are derived, is a pale yellow gas that is extremely corrosive and toxic.

In its ionic form, fluoride (F-), it can be found in various compounds, including minerals, and is important for dental health. Fluoride ions can help to prevent tooth decay by making tooth enamel more resistant to acid attacks, which can cause cavities. For this reason, fluoride is often added to drinking water and toothpaste.

However, excessive fluoride intake can lead to fluorosis, which is a condition that causes discoloration and mottling of the teeth, and in extreme cases, it can lead to skeletal fluorosis, which affects the bones and joints.
